The Wine
The colour is light straw with a green olive hue. The nose is complex with herbal, spiced pear and subtle toasted brioche aromas. As the wine opens up yeasty, nutty notes and citrus rind come to the fore. The palate is lengthy and flavoursome with fresh nashi pears notes, lemon zest, hints of vanilla, spice and honey. The well-balanced acidity and a persistent finish keeps you excited for more. Try gnocchi with gorgonzola or fish and chips.
Winemaking
The Verdicchio was machine harvested at night. The fruit was crushed, de-stemmed and pressed lightly to minimise extraction of any phenolics. The juice fermented at a cool temperature (14 – 15 °C) to allow the best extraction of varietal expression and aromatics. The wine then spent six months in contact with yeast lees to add complexity and to give more roundness and texture to the wine.
